Podcasters: please prepare for powered-up punch-ins presently

Last year we launched an exciting new feature for Cast’s Editor on this very blog (!): punch-ins. For the uninitiated, punch-ins are a great way to record additional audio while editing a recording in Cast’s Editor; you can record a quick intro, outtro or interstitial ad without ever leaving the Editor, and once it’s recorded it becomes an easy-to-position wedge in your project.

Since launching punch-ins, we’ve had dreams of expanding them to support background music, and we’re excited to announce that now they do. Many podcasters like to record their intro or outtro over theme music — with Cast’s updated hybrid punch-ins that’s a piece of cake. Now when recording a punch-in, Cast will prompt you to optionally add background music to run behind the punch-in, and the Editor will automatically mix your voice and your music into a single wedge at the conclusion of your recording.

It’s a little thing, but it’s been on our minds for quite some time and we couldn’t be happier to turn it on, for every single Cast user, this very moment. Head on over to Cast to try it out, or read all about what you can do with punch-ins in our handy reference document.

Happy podcasting!
