Cast Update: Prepare for Your Recording in the New Cast Greenroom 🛋

Typically guests appearing on talk-shows relax before they go on-air in a room backstage called the greenroom. Whether they’re helping themselves to a veggie platter, kicking back on a couch or excitedly pacing back and forth, people need somewhere to get ready and get into the right headspace before they go on.

We wanted to bring this same pre-show experience to Cast, so we’re excited today to announce the launch of Cast’s Greenroom! (We haven’t quite worked out how to offer a veggie platter and couch over the internet yet, but as soon as we do we’ll let you know.)

🎙 Get Ready Before You Go On Air

The Greenroom is a great place to prep before a recording on Cast — it’s packed full of great tools to help you test out your entire recording setup, eliminate echoes, and shake down your internet connection to make sure everything is working as expected. And, of course, the Greenroom will notify you when it’s time to join your session.

If you run a podcast with a rotating guest roster, we think you’ll really appreciate the ability to send each new guest a tailored link that helps them prep ahead of time.

🗓 Permanent Links to Scheduled Sessions 🎉

We know that many of you love Cast’s Scheduled Sessions feature, and with the Greenroom the entire feature is getting an upgrade. To start, Scheduled Sessions now have their own home where you can review and edit future scheduled sessions, including easily rescheduling them for a different date or time.

But perhaps even more exciting, each scheduled session will include permanent, bookmarkable Greenroom links for you the session host as well as each one one of your guests. Whether your session is scheduled for tomorrow or six months from now, we’ll immediately generate a Greenroom link for each participant (and we’ll even email them out, if you’d like). These links are active immediately, meaning you can drop in to the Greenroom any time ahead of a session to test things out.

We’ll even generate .ics calendar event files for each participant in a session, making it super easy for everybody to save the scheduled session in their calendar.

The new revamped Scheduled Sessions page and Cast’s Greenroom feature are now available at no extra cost on Cast for all plans, including Cast’s free (no credit card required) Trial Plan. This has been a long time coming and we are so excited for you to start using it!
